What's Involved in the Landscaping Process?
Initial Consultation:
During our initial consultation with our client, we'll talk with them and listen to understand their vision, needs, and budget. We'll do an on-site visit to evaluate property layout, soil, drainage, sunlight, and existing features, and talk about their aesthetic preferences, functional requirements (e.g. entertaining areas, privacy, pet spaces), and desired maintenance level. And we'll clarify project scope and timeline expectations.
Site Analysis and Measurements:
We'll gather accurate data for informed design decisions by taking measurements of the site (boundaries, elevation changes, existing structures), photograph key areas, and analyze environmental factors like, sun exposure, and irrigation needs.
Concept Development:
We'll translate ideas into a visual and functional concept, creating digital designs based on client input. We'll also explore different layouts and material options, presenting preliminary concepts to client for feedback. And incorporate creative elements (plant palettes, hardscapes, lighting, water features, etc.).
Design Finalization:
We'll deliver a detailed design plan, which includes scaled site plan and planting plan; 3D renderings or visualizations (if needed); materials list and design specifications; irrigation and lighting schematics (if applicable); and cost estimates.
Client Approval and Contract:
We'll confirm commitment before beginning installation, and review final design and make any requested changes. We'll finalize and sign a contract outlining scope, timeline, payment schedule, and terms, securing a deposit.
Installation / Build-Out:
We then set out to turn the design into reality. We'll schedule and manage labor, equipment, and material deliveries, as well as the site prep: clearing, grading, soil amendment, irrigation setup. We'll install hardscapes (patios, retaining walls, walkways), then planting and finishing touches (mulch, sod, lighting, décor). And we'll conduct quality checks throughout.
Post-Installation Support:
Finally, we'll conduct a final walkthrough with the client, and address any punch-list items.
And to ensure long-term client satisfaction, we provide maintenance information or offer maintenance services.
